From New York to London, We Love Fashion Week!

From New York to London, Fashion week has made its way across the pond, creating quite a stir on the British fashion circuit. We’ve seen many photos featuring some of the finest celebrities, from socialites to singers to actresses, all gracing the ‘Frow’ in eager anticipation of the fashion royalty ready to take the catwalks by storm.

Last week it was New York’s turn to showcase the best of the best in American fashion designers, meaning it was the turn of two of my favourite American designers, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs

I am completely in awe of Michael Kors latest collection, with his bold display of distinctive colours including cobalt, yellows and orange, bottling up a little summer essence and saving it for those cold autumn/winter days.  Zips and heavy detailing were also a must, with masculine shapes and structures teamed with unzipped pencil skirts to flash some leg for a contrasting feminine edge. I loved this combination of square cuts and terminator style shades, very much portraying the aspirational and confident woman, ready to take on the world.

With these exciting new trends and colours fresh in my mind, it seems only right to turn the spotlight onto some of our new Michael Kors watches with these A/W13 inspirations firmly set into their designs. This striking gold-plated and orange strap watch reflects the catwalk perfectly, with it’s eye-catching strap combined with the warming tones of the gold face and bezel. This makes for a truly unique style with a minimalistic twist. So ditch the fake tan this Winter and achieve a little sun-kissed look with this warming orange timepiece with a hint of NYC charm.

This gold-plated stone set watch complete with a cobalt blue strap is also the perfect way to bring some of the style from the catwalk straight to your wrist. The vibrant blue strap paired with the crystal embellishment and gold-plated face is ideal for any fashion forward woman; that striking blue sneaking out the end of a chunky knit this is sure to turn heads this A/W, and turn ordinary streets into your very own MK-inspired catwalk.

Next it was the turn of Marc Jacobs, where we saw belted coats, forties and fifties inspired fur coats, pyjama-like silk shirts and teeny tiny high waisted, belted knickers. His collection remained extremely chic and sophisticated, with the colours remaining relatively heavy with metallics, blacks and only a flash of colour on some of the oversized fur coats. These deep and shimmering colours gave an almost dark feel to the collection, but the feminine designs and lots of bare legs made sure that the Marc Jacobs woman is more sultry than sinister.

With this in mind, i turn my attention to our Marc by Marc Jacobs timepieces which each have a mystic of their own. With metalics being a must, this sleek stainless steel bracelet watch reflects this trend and will compliment the dark palettes perfectly. The minimalistic style also demonstrates a little A/W edge, as simplistic style is definitely in. The stone set dial also adds a dash of contemporary glamour, sure to carry you through from day to night.

On Friday Fashion week hopped on a plane and landed in London, ready to showcase the best of British in the fashion world. I cannot get enough of the uniquely wonderful designs from Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label collection and Burberry’s Prorsum collection.

Burberry’s Prorsum A/W’13 collection showed us classic romantic styles of sheer materials and pretty hearts, combined with wild prints and statement collars. Belts definitely put a new spin on the traditional Burberry style, and one I personally cannot get enough of. One of my favourite outfits has to be one worn by Cara Delevingne, made up of a leopard print top combined with a sheer, caramel pencil skirt, revealing cutesy heart print high-waisted knickers to give this staple, conservative style a cheeky edge.

With this look as my inspiration, I’d add a little Burberry chic with this traditional style of gold-plated bracelet watch. Boasting a feminine design combined with the warming hues of gold, this watch is sure to suit Delevigne’s catwalk attire, with its contemporary twist on a classic A/W outfit. Combined with one of the statement Prorsum trench coats, this watch is sure to add practicality to your style.

Vivienne Westwood’s LFW show also failed to disappoint. Staying true to her uniquely wild style, her models were all sporting almost clown like make up and her designs ranged from colourful striped coats to her signature corseted dresses. We also saw some simplistic designs featuring jumpers teamed with skirts - but they were each given the Westwood quirk with clashing coloured tights and bold, patterned handbags.
This Vivienne Westwood ladies’ grey watch with red and purple stripes is the ideal way to embrace the A/W’13 trends that will sure enough translate from the catwalks to the high street. This watch stays true to the striking nature of Vivienne Westwood with the bold and energetic strap, sure to brighten up those cold Autumn/Winter days.

With Fashion week still in full swing, I can’t wait to see what has in store for us. From Milan to Paris, i’m eager to see what the next couple of weeks have in store. Watch this space.
